There was probably a time when your business was just a dream; something you fantasized about while you slaved away at a nine-to-five job that you didn't totally love. Eventually, your dream evolved into a plan, and that plan evolved into a real-life business that brings you a sense of accomplishment and pride. But how did you get from point A to point B?
Whether you realize it or not, you likely got there by setting a consecutive series of small goals and checking them off, one little task at a time. Before you knew it, you had a business name, a location, a website, and even a few customers!
At the start of every new year, there's an overwhelming societal pressure to set goals and press the reset button on your business. Seeing what other businesses are doing and hearing so much about the success a brand new year should bring feels daunting. As small business owners, our goals will never be astronomical or earth-shattering on a global scale. We CAN achieve the unthinkable for ourselves, our teams, and our families though - if we take the time to develop a growth plan and stick to the path along the way!
For me, keeping my goals simple is crucial. I like to start by thinking about the previous year
and taking note of the things that need improvement. What did I do well in 2022? In what areas did I slack off a little? What changes would I like to make for this year?
Whitecap Copywriting is entering its second year of business and I've already come so far since I launched in the spring of 2022. I've had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients while simultaneously learning what is takes to be a CEO. The personal and business growth I achieved in 2022 has helped lay the foundation for continued success in 2023.
This year, my goals are simple, realistic, and attainable. Each goal takes myself and my family into consideration and allows for professional growth without sacrificing time with my family. At the end of the day, my number one goal will always be the same: to provide words that make waves for my incredible clients.
